Studies of Reptiles and Amphibians in Western Ecuador:
Conservation of Critically Imperiled Ecosystems

Cerro Pata de Pajaro

News: In Spring of 2010, we will be undertaking our 40 Peaks in 40 Nights project. A very limited number of research participants will be accepted for this expedition. Stay tuned for details on applying.

We are in our sixth year of study in western Ecuador. In this project, we document the incredible diversity of life in a fragile and imperiled ecosystem. Our goals include discovering new species, understanding patterns of biodiversity, and providing sound management recommendations to save animals and ecosystems.

Photo galleries from our 2007-2009 expeditions are online.

Find out more about our work in our report of initial findings, available in English (pdf) and Spanish (pdf).

Previous participants: take a few minutes to fill out our post-expedition survey.
